Moments After Barack Obama was Announced President

I was around the corner from Union Square when Barack Obama landed California and sealed his win as President of the United States of America. The streets erupted in howls and cheers and I ran to Union Square to capture the excitement.

This was the first time since I was a child that I actually wanted to wave the American Flag.

I've been trying to upload this footage all day but youtube, vimeo and other video sites have been clogged with new content:

I like Obama, and boted for him, but screw his AA supporters in California. 70 percent voted "yes" on Prop 8 ?! Like their communities are so functional they can decide how others should live.

I was there around 9PM when they had just unfurled the flag and watched for a bit but headed home, 'cause I live so far out in Brooklyn. Had I known you'd be there...

My 'hood was pretty quiet that night.

I was happy for a few but 2 things happened.

1) the boss forbid any Obama happiness in the office. So that ended that.

2) Prop 8 canceled out any faith I had in Obama's election making a difference in my life.

Your Gov Patterson is blogging at Pam's House Blend - how cool is that? I hope with your Democratic Senate, yall have marriage in NY in a year or two. Patterson is amazing.
